About

I grew up on a large family farm outside Princeton, IL. and am 1 of 6 children. I was inspired to pursue a career in education when my youngest sister was born. Watching her grow and helping my parents take care of her made me realize the importance of child development. From this experience, I knew that becoming a teacher and striving to nurture joyful, confident, capable and passionate learners would be my life work and a dream come true. I attended Bradley University and earned my undergraduate degree in Elementary Education in 1989. I moved to Connecticut to begin my teaching career at King Low-Heywood Thomas in Stamford, Connecticut. I taught second grade there for 4 years before deciding to move back to the Midwest with my family. I was honored to become a first grade teacher at Oak Grove in 1995. In 2002, I earned a Master of Arts in Teacher Leadership from North Park University in Chicago and have earned 36 post graduate credits in the field of education. I am passionate about working with my Oak Grove students each and every day. It brings me great joy to watch them grow as learners and for them to realize that with perseverance and courage they can accomplish anything they wish. I feel fortunate to be a part of the Oak Grove learning community.
I currently reside in Prairie Crossing in Grayslake. I am a proud mother of a son who serves our country in the United States Marine Corps. In my free time I love to run, spend time with my nieces and nephews, and vacation with my family on the beach in Florida. |
